If the title rules are the same as *the site that shall not be named, ty then long titles are shortened in replies. For example Dan and Phil part 28: They edited for us, they edited for us is 60 characters. In replies it's shortened to Re: Dan and Phil part 28: They edited for us, they edited fo. If nobody minds the title being shortened in replies then the title name and number can be a full 60 characters.

When threads reach double digits then the title name will be limited to 40 characters.

This is all very true, and yeah, it works the same as it did on *the site that shall not be named, ty. I personally think it's a bit weird for the title to be shortened in replies, but for truly epic titles it's worth it, I suppose. And we can also do things like delete the space after the colon.
